Local Trails

Our trails listings showcase some of the trails we run and walk on in our beautiful patch of the earth. Over time we plan to add to this resource so that it includes more trails and information about how to access them.

Please note: Over time, trails change, trees fall down, it rains (a lot), it burns, and new developments are built. Therefore we ask you to treat these trail notes as a guide. Please check conditions before you run or walk, and if you are unsure, check with someone before heading out. Happy trails!

Our Local Trails

The Sapphire Coast has a huge variety of trails to hike or run. We have listed a few which are based on distance and grading for you to choose from:

Two runners on a sandy trail through coastal scrub
Runners setting off along a road, with a selfie in the foreground
Runner with arms raised on a wide dirt trail through bushland
Concrete shared path winding through bushland between Kalaru and Tathra Easy Trails Shorter, gentler routes around Merimbula, Bega, Pambula and Tura, from a 3.6km bush loop up to a 10km circuit. A good place to start. Steep eroded section of the Merimbula Tip Trail Moderate Trails A step up from the easy routes: the Merimbula Tip Trail, the beach run through to Pambula, and the Red Light District and Shark Mangrove loop. Wharf and blue water on the Wharf to Wharf route Hard Trails Longer and harder: the 30km Wharf to Wharf from Merimbula to Tathra, and the Doctor George loop out of Bega via Tarraganda Lane. View over forested hills from the Wolumla Peak lookout Experienced Trails For experienced trail runners. The 45km Wolumla Peak loop, and the Millingandi, Yellow Pinch and Bald Hills circuit. Two runners at a headland lookout above the ocean All Trails Every trail the club runs and walks, from a 2km boardwalk at Merimbula to the 45km Wolumla Peak loop, each with directions, a route map and photos.
