Local Trail - Back Millingandi Loop

Trail Difficulty: Experienced

How's the serenity? (Millingandi/Yellow Pinch/ Bald Hills loop)

Getting there

There are two options either park at the top of the Millingandi Short Cut Road (this is where the run will be described from) or if you don't want to run up a hill at the end then park at the entrance of Millingandi Ridge Road.

The track

Starting at the top of Millingadi Short Cut Road head down the road and over the creek until you run into a tee intersection. Turn right onto Millingandi Road. Follow Millingandi Road up the hill until you come to Forrest Lane, (1) Turn left onto Forrest Lane (there are letterboxes lined up at the entrance of the road, Follow Forrest Lane across the causeway and up the hill until you come to Hakea Lane Fire Trail and turn right down it (2). Follow Hakea Lane Fire Trail down to the creek and then up a decent climb past the power lines keep left when you see the Yellow Pinch Extension Trail and the climb continues. You are now on Hakea Road and keep following the road until you find a tee intersection and turn left onto Wolumla Peak Road (3). Follow Wolumla Peak road for approx. 3kms until on the left you come to Nimbus Road (4), Turn left and follow this fire road for approx. 3kms. (Do not turn off onto Pambula Trail No2) the fire road turns into single track near the end and gets a little steep down but keep following it. You will pop out at the top of Bald Hills with at least a 270-degree view (5). It is spectacular with views of Wolumla/Merimbula/Pambula/Pambula Beach/Haycock Point/Mt Imlay and more. Stop and have a look around you will not be disappointed. Once started again bend to your right and you will see the track again and follow it down across 3 cattle grids. After the third grid you will need to turn left at the road for “84 Woodlands V&J Hart” (6) It is a new development so there is no trespassing happening. Follow the road down and then back up the hill. You will come across footings to a house, but they had been abandoned so keep following the road straight ahead and down the hill. Keep following the trail down to a tee intersection and turn right (7) (do not turn left where the “Private Land Please Keep Out sign is (8)) keep left when the trail forks to a lesser used trail, climb the hill until you see the Millingandi substation and go straight onto Millingandi Ridge Road (9) (do not climb the hill) follow Millingandi Ridge Road until you come across a tee intersection which is the Merimbula bypass, turn left and head back to Millingandi Short Cut Road.

Difficulty

Medium (there is quite a bit of climbing and descending but the views are worth the price of admission!)

Connections

You name it, Wolumla Peak, Yellow Pinch Dam, Candelo via Myrtle Mountain, Merimbula, Pambula, Challenge the Pinch Course depends on how far your legs want to travel.
