Local Trail - Merimbula Boardwalk
Trail Difficulty:
Merimbula Boardwalk - 4.3Km return trip
Getting there
To get to the track start, park on the Merimbula side of the Bridge and follow the boardwalk which begins behind the brick fisheries building.
The track
An easy 4.3Km return trip along the boardwalk as it meanders along the water’s edge and through the mangroves. The changing tide brings a variety of scenery, fish and birdlife. The café at Top Lake (the end of the track) is great for a coffee and the sunsets from there are spectacular. Essentially you follow the boardwalks, as you head out to Top Lake you keep the lake on your left (and never turn right), on the way back you keep the lake on your right and never turn left. Basically, if you are more than 10 meters from the waters edge, you are off track. The track ends at Top Lake car park which has a boat ramp , toilets and a kiosk.
Difficulty
Easy (sometimes the boardwalk is a little more flexible than we would like it to be).
Connections
At the Merimbula town end you can connect with trails over the bridge to the main beach or Pambula. Going through town you can join up with paths to Bar Beach and Long Point. From the Top Lake end you can connect to trails beyond Robyn's nest.
Note
There are plans afoot to rebuild this boardwalk. When this happens, sections of the track may be closed.
