Local Trail - Merimbula Paths
Trail Difficulty:
Merimbula Paths - 7km return
Getting there
You can start anywhere along the paths, This description starts from Bar Beach.
The track
Running west from Bar beach you will traverse the Lake Street Boardwalk, a superb elevated path with stunning views of Merimbula Lake. After 1km you will pass through rotary park car park and from there follow the path down the hill to Spencer Park (both paths go down the hill , the one on the left has stairs). Continue on the footpath on the other (southern) side of the park. After 300m turn left on the footpaths onto Beach street and follow the path all the way along the side of the lake until you reach Merimbula Bridge, this will include going to the left of the Waterfront cafe on the short boardwalk behind the promenade building. After crossing the bridge turn left on the path up the side of Fishpen drive (at about 3km). You can follow this path for 500 metres before it ends on Fishpen road, only 200 metres from Mitchies Jetty. The track is also very bike friendly so if your little people like to come along and ride a bike while you run or walk, it also passes many options for a coffee or an ice cream. You should not have to cross any road, however, you will travel through the rotary park car park, and the small Spencer Park carpark.. The total distance is 3.5km, making for a 7km return journey.
Difficulty
Easy - very flat
Connections
There are many points along the way that you can keep running or walking around town, you could connect to Merimbula Boardwalk before the bridge, or Long Point (for which the trail starts only about 1km from Bar Beach). The track to Pambula begins on the Fishpen side of the bridge, from this point it is 5km to Pambula.
