Local Trail - Pambula Bush Paths
Trail Difficulty: Easy
Pambula Bush - Approximately 3.6km
Getting there
Park in the dirt area behind/above the Pambula hospital (turn right at the ‘No through road’ at the end of Merimbola St).
The track
This track review is an out-and-back through beautiful open native forest/bushland.
Head out from the end of the dirt parking area (opposite to entrance end) along the back of the Hospital until you end up on the most clearly worn dirt car track.
Follow this track, ignoring all side-tracks and intersections for nearly 2km and return the same way.
From about 1km you can start to see glimpses of the Pambula Merimbula Golf Course through the trees. The track gradually gets closer to the golf course until at 1.65km it gets right beside it (14th Hole), before veering 90 degrees to the left. If you follow that, at 1.8km there is a fence and gate across the track (private property). Return the same way.
Difficulty
Easy – relatively flat, dirt vehicle track. May be suitable for bikes and off-road strollers.
Connections
There is an extensive network of tracks through this section of bush, allowing for exploration (with little likelihood of getting lost as it is bounded by the highway, Arthur Kaine Drive, and the golf course). Don’t use the old rusted car bodies as markers though, as there are a number, dotted throughout the area.
At 450m from the start at the hospital is a crossroads which leads downhill to the right to the main bike path along Arthur Kaine Drive, and uphill to the highway, just opposite the bald hills road intersection, where you can cross the road and follow a track down to the left beside the highway and through to Pambula Primary School. These tracks are hillier and a bit rougher surface.
Depending on the time of day, it may also be possible to loop back via the golf course – Of course, keeping clear of any golfers and not running on any of the putting greens.
